Jim Martin, “Seniors need real leadership in the Senate, not political games that have left us with over 1,100 days without a budget and Medicare on the brink of insolvency.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – With the United States Senate now more than 1,100 days beyond the passage of its last fiscal budget, momentum is now building for House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget blueprint, scheduled for a vote this week in the upper chamber. This news was greeted positively by 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters.

“Harry Reid and his Democrat colleagues in the Senate have failed to produce a budget in over 1,100 days, a staggering dereliction of duty and a clear signal to every American that politics comes first in the Democrat-controlled Senate, far ahead of responsible fiscal stewardship of our nation’s finances. The Ryan budget plan is a responsible, workable way to save and preserve Medicare for current retirees and future generations, and restrain the runaway deficit spending that is destroying our nation. It deserves to be supported.

“Democrats continue to justify their policies by claiming they have a monopoly on compassion. But fiscal irresponsibility is not compassion. Leaving our children trillions of dollars in additional debt as the President proposes is not compassion. Letting Medicare go bankrupt and rationing health care to seniors is not compassion, as even the President’s former Chief of Staff admitted that “Medicare will run out of money in five years if we don’t do something.”

“Senate Democrats seem to forget there are real people affected by their policies, the same people struggling to find a job, fill their gas tanks, and pay rapidly increasing cost of insurance premiums and health care for their families. Staying the course of doing nothing is the wrong prescription for seniors and for our nation. The Ryan plan offers hope to every senior and American looking for our nation to return to sound financial footing, so we can meet our obligations and build prosperity well into the future.”

Noting that prominent Democrat Senator, Ron Wyden of Oregon has teamed with Congressman Ryan on a budget measure to preserve Medicare, Martin said, “Senator Wyden should be commended for his courage in putting politics aside to help protect seniors in a bi-partisan manner. His party’s ‘Medi-scare’ tactics, practically part of their DNA, are done for good. If other Democrat Senators truly cared about our nation, they would follow his lead and work to solve the tremendous budget and entitlement problems facing our nation instead of using them as political opportunities to scare seniors to win votes.”

Jim Martin, “I agree with Senator Nelson in one regard; his record is tough to look at.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – Democrat Senator Bill Nelson of Florida is once again crying ‘foul’ over another critic highlighting his record of supporting the extremely unpopular Obamacare legislation, which slashed Medicare by half a trillion dollars, adds $1 trillion to the next 10 years of deficits, and is largely viewed by the business community as holding back higher employment and the economic recovery.

New ads from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce running in the Sunshine state have met with the disproval of Nelson and his team of lawyers, who have demanded the TV stations stop running the ads, as they claim, “to protect the public from the spread of false information and deliberate deception.” This brought a response from 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the 7.2 million-strong seniors organization, which itself ran TV ads last month informing Florida’s seniors about Nelson’s support of Obamacare.

“The public needs protection all right,” said Martin, “but not from TV ads that inform them of the Senator’s horrendous record on health care. The public needs protection from liberal Senators who vote to give Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi near complete control over our health care, then complain when someone bothers to point out the truth.

“Senator Nelson knows just how unpopular Obamacare is. He knows that Nancy Pelosi herself admitted Democrats ‘took half a trillion dollars out of Medicare.’ He knows that he claimed Obamacare would ‘help reduce the deficit’ when in fact it is increasing deficits by over a trillion dollars. He knows that members of the U.S. Chamber say they can’t hire new workers because of the cost of Obamacare. There is no deception on the public to point out these facts, the only deception is Senator Nelson trying to silence his critics.

“I applaud the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for their courage in standing up for the truth, and standing up for their members who overwhelmingly oppose Obamacare because it hurts their businesses and hurts average working Americans. We know Senator Nelson can’t handle the truth, and he can’t silence it either.”

60 Plus’s Jim Martin, “Families USA once again puts up discredited info to prop up Obamacare.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – A new report released this week touting the benefits of Obamacare for small businesses comes from a group with questionable ties to big labor organizations, and repeats information that has already been debunked by numerous sources, including the White House. The liberal Families USA is publicizing findings that conclude that 3.2 million small business are currently eligible for a health insurance tax credit courtesy of President’s Obama health care law, the very same information they peddled back in July of 2010 which proved both to be greatly exaggerated as well as highly prejudicial in favor of Obamacare.

Even in 2010 the Obama White House produced a fact sheet that conceded that only 360,000 small businesses stood to benefit from the tax credit, putting Family USA’s number of 3.2 million off by 89%. Others have raised concerns that the group has close ties to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which stands to benefit greatly with the implementation of Obamacare. SEIU President Mary Kay Henry serves on the Families USA board of directors.

“Anything this organization puts out is tainted and completely void of all credibility,” said 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization. “Not only are their numbers once again in a different galaxy from reality, their close ties to the Service Employees Union, who stand to make millions from Obamacare, expose exactly what their agenda is and who they are here to serve.

“Families USA is a group that exists for the sole purpose of putting out pro-union propaganda in an attempt to influence the November election. Despite their skewed report, very few small businesses will actually benefit from the Obamacare tax credit, and in the long run they will all pay much higher costs when the credit expires. Small businesses are being choked right now by the expense and bureaucracy of the President’s health care legislation. They want Obamacare repealed, not to join in the misery.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Americans blame policies of former President Obama for killing Medicare and his policy of rationing medicine that denied Julia the care she needed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 3, 2042

Americans blame policies of former President Obama for killing Medicare and his policy of rationing medicine that denied Julia the care she needed.

(Alexandria, Virginia) – The woman simply known as ‘Julia,’ whose future was highlighted by the re-election campaign of Barack Obama in 2012, has died while waiting for routine medical treatment for a heart ailment. Julia’s heart condition was brought on and exacerbated by the stress caused by a life of hard work that left her broke after paying most of her income in taxes to pay for the health care system that ultimately failed her and millions of her generation.

Julia’s death was seen as likely and predictable at the time by opponents of Obama’s health care legislation passed in 2010. Known as Obamacare, the law slashed a half a trillion dollars out of Medicare, rationed medical care with an unelected board of bureaucrats, and failed to address the impending bankruptcy of Medicare, which occurred in 2024, just as the board of Medicare actuaries predicted during Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012.

Said one opponent of Obamacare at the time, 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, “I pity this poor young woman and all workers of her generation. She is facing a future of a government-run health care system that will put every decision concerning her health in the hands of bureaucrats in Washington. It is going to cost trillions of dollars, which she and others will have to pay for with massive new taxes and fees, and she’ll be subjected to long waits as government bean counters approve every procedure by a dwindling number of doctors.

“And she can forget about any help from Medicare when she gets older,” continued Martin. “Mr. Obama is ending Medicare as we know it through his severe cuts and failure to address the reforms the program so desperately needs. The trustees have underscored how in 12 years services will be cut by 26% and taxes will need to be raised by 47% just to keep the program afloat. That’s just in 12 years, it will only get worse after that.

“It is a shame that Julia and her peers are being failed so miserably by Obama, who is using Medicare and health care as a political issue and is willing to let Americans perish as he destroys the medical system of our nation.” Sadly for Julia, all of Mr. Martin’s forecasts proved true.

Jim Martin: “Obama’s agenda is for the federal government to be everybody’s doctor.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – A new report released this afternoon by the House Ways and Means Committee states that the nation’s largest 71 employers stand to save hundreds of billions of dollars by dropping health care coverage for their employees and instead pay a $2,000 penalty per employee under the Obamacare employer mandate. The result would threaten the private health insurance of 10.2 million U.S. workers and send the cost of the health care law, already over $1 trillion, to stratospheric levels.

Said 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, “Once again, we realize yet another outright lie of Obamacare, that those who wanted to keep their health plans could do so. Now we see startling proof that one of the major objectives of the government-run health care blueprint is to destroy private health insurance and make everyone dependent on the government. There is no other way to explain a health care law that actually gives windfall profits to companies to dump people from coverage.

“Because of Obamacare, employee health insurance costs are increasing faster. When you couple that fact with the hundreds of millions of dollars these large companies could save by dumping employees from their health care plans, the incentive is going to be too great to allow workers to keep their coverage. And those companies that attempt to keep their health plans will be at a competitive disadvantage, meaning it will only be a matter of time before everyone loses their coverage.

“Americans were told that government-run health care reform was necessary to help the uninsured, so what business does the Obama have for paying companies to dump the insured and force them into government exchanges? The federal government is out of control and every American should be extremely alarmed by this news. We see how well the federal government runs the post office, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, sadly this will soon be our doctor’s office.

“Welcome to Uncle Sam, M.D., your new primary care physician. The very thought boils my blood and gives me chills. Obama is making even getting sick a luxury none of us will be able to afford.”
