New 60 Plus Ad Targets Oberstar’s Record

DULUTH, MINN. – The 60 Plus Association, nationally recognized as the conservative alternative to the liberal AARP, today launched a new television ad in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District.  The organization will spend nearly $100,000 in the district on issue ads that spotlight Rep. James Oberstar’s record.

“After 36 years in Congress, Rep. Oberstar has lost touch with Minnesota seniors,” said Jim Martin, Chairman of 60 Plus.  “During his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Oberstar disregarded the views of his constituents, and instead voted the Democratic Party line.  He aligned with Pelosi on the massive health reform disaster that cut $500 billion from Medicare and cost many seniors their health care coverage.  The Greatest Generation doesn’t understand why Oberstar voted against them, but they know exactly why they will be voting against him this November.”

The 30-second TV ad will air across the district beginning on October 26.  A full transcript of the television ad can be found below or a video of the ad can be found by clicking here .

ANNOUNCER:
1974.  Richard Nixon resigned, Fran Tarkenton starred for the Vikings, and we elected Jim Oberstar to Congress.  After 36 years, Oberstar’s lost touch.  He votes with his party 97% of the time, for $500 billion in Medicare cuts, Nancy Pelosi’s budgets, and debt future generations can’t afford.  Jim Oberstar has stopped voting for us.  November 2, vote against him.  60 Plus Association is responsible for the content of this advertising.
