Obama TV Ads Ignore His War on Medicare, Seniors

Jim Martin, “The most anti-Medicare President in history has no credibility with seniors.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – The President’s campaign committee launched the first of several new TV ads this week, including one targeted toward seniors where Obama portrays himself as a defender of Medicare and seniors’ benefits.

The ad states: It starts by protecting your Medicare from health care scam artists who prey on seniors. President Obama is leading the most successful crackdown on health care fraud ever. Already recovered $4 billion from health care scams last year alone, to preserve Medicare now and for the future.”

The ad brought a strong rebuke from 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters.

“The biggest Medicare fraud ever was committed by this President and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi when they conspired to gut Medicare by half a trillion dollars to help fund Obamacare.  If he were serious about prosecuting those who would harm seniors then both of them would be in the back of a paddy wagon.  The President is telling a lot of whoppers lately to wipe the slate clean on his record, but saying that he is a protector of Medicare is the biggest whopper of them all.  What a cruel, even craven, way to treat seniors with this totally false claim.

“Seniors will not be fooled by Obama’s paid attempts to rewrite history and cast himself as a hero to America’s elderly.  In over three years in office he has not proposed a single policy to help preserve Medicare, which his former Chief of Staff Bill Daley said would be broke in five years.  In fact President Obama has sped the demise of Medicare by slashing its trust fund, proposing the health care rationing IPAB, and expanding Obamacare.

“Come November, I promise that America’s seniors will treat President Obama with the same regard he has treated Medicare over his four years.”
