Perry Flat Tax Proposal Another Winning Answer for GOP

60 Plus Jim Martin: “While GOP is acing the class, Obama still hasn’t turned in homework.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the largest conservative seniors advocacy group in the nation, today responded favorably to a new tax and economic proposal offered by Texas Governor Rick Perry.  Titled ‘Cut, Balance and Grow,’ the proposal would offer taxpayers the option of paying a flat 20% of their income to the IRS, and includes provisions to kill the ‘death tax,’ cap government spending at 18% of GDP, and preserve Social Security for future generations.

“Governor Perry’s ‘Cut, Balance and Grow’ is a solid economic plan for renewing our economy and providing struggling Americans with a path back to economic prosperity.  It addresses the key failures of President Obama’s agenda in Washington, which at every turn seeks to smother us with more government, and destroy private enterprise and initiative.

“Americans are looking for a glimmer of hope in a sky of dark clouds that blew in three years ago.  The Perry plan is yet another Republican initiative that provides real answers to a President who has nothing to offer the people but campaign slogans. Governor Perry’s plan hits all the right notes – make taxes simpler and flatter; kill the death tax; cap the size and spending of the federal government, and give future generations retirement options that will be there for them when they need it.

“Whether it is Governor Perry’s bold platform, Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, or any of the other many Republican candidate initiatives that have been offered, the GOP has once again demonstrated they are the party of ideas, and are working overtime to provide answers to our nation’s crushing problems.  While the GOP is acing the test of leadership, President Obama has failed to turn in his homework.”
