FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The 60 Plus Association, the leading conservative seniors organization, has released the results of two surveys of its membership, with 16,551 responses, which reflect the views and priorities of the group.
Saul Anuzis, President of the 60 Plus Association, explained that continual surveys of its members are critical to representing seniors in Congress.
“There are seniors organizations like AARP that claim they speak for most seniors, but they really don’t. By contrast, 60 Plus understands the concerns that motivate Senior voters,” Anuzis said.
Seniors were worried about inflation, with an overwhelming 97 percent saying they were very concerned. The costs of gasoline, groceries, and medical costs topped their list of worries. And 87 percent feared they would outlive their retirement money.
Yet in determining their vote in the last election, controlling the border came in at 92 percent, outranking both inflation and seniors matters.
“You would have to go no further in determining why Border Czar Kamala Harris did so poorly in the 2024 presidential election,” Anuzis said.
Forty-four percent of the members of 60 Plus said that Social Security was their primary source of income. Other sources included pensions and investments, while 22 percent indicated they were still working.
Only 17 percent were very comfortable with their income and 80 percent have less money now than they expected to have before they retired. Furthermore, 95 percent think the yearly cost of living increases for Social Security recipients will not keep up with inflation.
Eighty-three percent expressed strong support for legislation similar to the Social Security Guarantee Act, which was introduced in the last session of Congress, to make sure seniors receive the benefits to which they are entitled.
On other issues, 86 percent strongly agreed that violent crime is at a high level and the liberal movement to defund police is “beyond disgraceful”.
And a near unanimous 99 percent of seniors supported the efforts of 60 Plus to encourage grandparents to get involved in education by attending local school board meetings and speaking out against ultra-liberal curricula.
Likewise, 83 percent believed that “faith and freedom are linked together” and the Pledge of Allegiance should be recited in all schools and governmental meetings.
“60 Plus will continue to poll our members throughout the year, while we work to strengthen Social Security and Medicare and support other measures that reflect the views and priorities of our members,” Anuzis pledged.
