Senate runoff elections in Peach State trigger statewide response

The 60 Plus Association has activated its GOTV effort to reach Georgia residents over the age of 60, encouraging them to organize and vote in the special run off elections scheduled for January 5th to elect two senators to represent the state in the U.S. Senate.

“Seniors are the most active voting bloc in America” pointed out 60 Plus Association Founder and Chairman Jim Martin. “We can and do vote in greater numbers than most because we have the most to lose. The only way to protect the interests of older Americans is to make sure Congress is not subject to one-party rule.”

Martin emphasized, “Control of the Senate will determine the fate of critical issues for seniors. We can’t afford to take this election lightly and we plan on getting every senior to the polls to make sure our voice is heard.”

The group identified the following key issues that could be affected by Georgia’s incoming Senators:

The Death Tax: Liberals are already suggesting reversing the repeal of the estate tax and stepping-up the cost basis of assets bequeathed to heirs, a financial blow to farmers and small businesses throughout Georgia.

Law Enforcement: Liberals in Georgia and nationally are committed to defunding the police which will only put more seniors at risk every day.

Medicare: Liberals are proposing a variety of plans for health care, primarily “Medicare For All,” which would effectively mean “Medicare For None.”

Taxes: Liberals are promising to repeal the Trump tax cuts which will cost seniors millions in new taxes.

Higher Energy Costs: Proposals for a “Green New Deal” will drastically increase the cost of energy across the board – from gas prices at the pump to heating our homes – meaning seniors on fixed incomes will be disproportionately impacted.

“Our battle cry in Georgia: We need to GOTV (get out the vote) because our lives DO depend on it,” concluded Martin.
