60 Plus Association Statement on the RWJ Nurses Strike in New Jersey

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 20, 2023) – It’s time United Steelworkers union bosses allow RWJ nurses to return to work and resume negotiating in good faith. The RWJ nurses are the highest paid nurses in NJ – and deserve to be. They have also been offered a generous raise and improved staffing levels, bringing their numbers to some of the highest in the state. But the resources that the RWJ administration has put on the table are not unlimited, and the cost of the strike has dramatically reduced them.

Now, due to the expensive and unnecessary strike driven by the union bosses, RWJ will be forced to reduce the current offer.Union bosses should place the nurses and patients first – not their tired, dangerous protesting tactics.
