60 Plus Emerges in White House Briefing

White House Advisor Gary Cohn Affirms
Immediate Repeal of Death Tax

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (September 29, 2017) – The efforts of the 60 Plus Association in abolishing the Death Tax served as a reference point in the September 28 White House Briefing with White House Chief Economic Adviser Gary Cohn.

The briefing by Cohn was to lay out and explain specific provisions of President Trump’s tax reform framework, and the reference originated with White House News Max correspondent John Gizzi. A verbatim excerpt from the transcript of the briefing reads as follows:

Q: “…I cited to you the worry of groups such as Jim Martin and the 60 Plus seniors association — that you are going to drag out repeal of the death tax; that it wouldn’t be immediate. And you said at the time it was immediate. Is that final? Is it going to be an immediate repeal and go off the books as soon as the new tax reform package is passed?

MR. COHN: In our outline, it’s immediate.

Q: It’s immediate?

MR. COHN: It’s immediate, yes.
