Memorial Day – It’s Really NOT About Hot Dogs, Barbeques, and a Day Off

Memorial Day: It is a time for the country to reflect and remember—on the men and women who have sacrificed for our country, on the principles upon which the nation was founded, and on the role we all have to play in protecting the freedoms of future generations.

All of those principles were fittingly at the heart of the Ronald Reagan Memorial Day speech, which he delivered every year at a moving ceremony to both commemorate lives lost and celebrate victories won—all while connecting these ideas to center attention on the pressing current events of the time.

Looking back on these messages and meanings behind the addresses is an important way for modern American culture to reconnect with the true mission of the holiday.

Liberal vs Progressive vs Democrat vs Communist: It’s worth understanding the difference…and more importantly, being aware of who is playing who.

In a great article posted below, “Let’s Call Them What They Are: Communists” that is a MUST read:

In a communist society, the state controls information. The propagandists tell the population what they need to hear to advance the needs of the commune — like saying that state control is necessary to provide equity. They also hide anything that would undermine the commune — like the extent of state corruption.

A communist state crushes dissenters as criminals — because nothing is more criminal to a communist than challenging the state. Communists invented the concept show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime.

This unfortunately is starting to sound all too familiar.

Race Baiting Politics: I received a number of calls on my post from last week. This is an uncomfortable issue many prefer we don’t talk about. I’ll quote Thomas Sowell to summarize my thoughts:

Racism is not dead. But it is on life support, kept alive mainly by the people who use it for an excuse or to keep minority communities fearful or resentful enough to turn our as a voting bloc on election day.

THE REAL HISTORY OF MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day falls on the last Monday of May. Americans all over the country honor fallen soldiers with parades, barbecues, and commemorative services.

Though Memorial Day was made an official federal holiday in 1971, its roots trace all the way back to the Civil War, when Northerners and Southerners alike needed a way to mourn their fallen soldiers. Most observances were concentrated in the South, where the most Civil War graves were located.

WHERE DID MEMORIAL DAY COME FROM?

Over 25 cities claim to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. For example, Macon, Georgia, claims it began there in 1866, while Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, maintains it began there in 1864.

One story maintains that, in late April 1866, a group of Mississippi women went to decorate the graves of soldiers who had died in the Battle of Shiloh. When they arrived, they found the Confederate graves well cared-for, in stark contrast to the nearby graves of Union soldiers, which were bare and unkempt. Saddened, the women placed their flowers on the Union graves, too.

On May 5, 1868, just three years after the Civil War, a group of Union Veterans called the Grand Army of the Republic declared May 30 to be Decoration Day. Maj. Gen. John A. Logan gave the order for his posts to decorate graves “with the choicest flowers of springtime.”

“Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic,” he said.

Nearly 90 million adults struggling to make ends meet in Biden’s America, Census data shows

According to a report, more Americans are struggling financially even more currently than the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the economy slows while inflation and interest rates rise, nearly 90 million adults are struggling financially to provide for their families in Joe Biden’s America, according to new U.S. Census data.

The Census Bureau’s latest Household Pulse Survey showed that 89.1 million people reported it was somewhat or very difficult to pay for usual home expenses between April 26 and May 8 of this year.

That statistic increased to 38.5% of adults this year, compared to 34.4% one year ago and 26.7% during the same period in 2021.

You can see that data here.

Youngkin sends mixed signals on 2024 presidential run

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) is sending mixed signals about a potential 2024 presidential bid as questions surface about the viability of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the GOP primary.

Youngkin raised eyebrows last week when his political arm rolled out a video that had all the trappings of a presidential campaign spot. And on Monday, Axios reported the governor was considering a 2024 bid amid encouragement from donors after he said last month he would not get on the presidential campaign trail in 2023.

November’s state legislature races in Virginia will pose a significant test for Youngkin, likely pushing any 2024 entrance to the end of the year. But others say questions surrounding DeSantis’s candidacy are drawing attention to the Virginia governor.

“I think he’s a very attractive alternative,” said veteran GOP strategist Saul Anuzis. “He has a different style and different demeanor, one that I think is appealing to a lot of voters and a lot of activists and donors who are looking to win the election. Winnability is becoming a bigger and bigger issue for folks.”

But Youngkin’s team has maintained this week that the governor is laser-focused on Virginia ahead of what is expected to be a hard-fought legislature battle in November. Anzuis told The Hill that Youngkin echoed this message in conversations this week at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Austin, Texas.

“He was very disciplined in the sense that he kept saying ‘I’m focused on Virginia,’” Anusiz said.

A source familiar with Youngkin’s political operation echoed this sentiment.

Are The Anti-Trump GOP Forces Starting to Implode?

Will this go down as the week that the grand plan to deny Donald Trump the nomination fell apart?

For months, high-level Republican lawmakers, donors and strategists eager to block Trump have described, in separate conversations with me, an endgame to the presidential primary.

When it becomes clear in the early state and national polling who is consolidating support, the most influential figures with ties to the lagging candidates will stage a sort of political intervention and tell them it’s time to quit and rally to the strongest alternative to Trump.

Such a plot always struck me as a bit far-fetched, for starters because politicians aren’t known for putting party ahead of self. Yet the appetite among elite Republicans to move past Trump was and is so immense I thought there could at least be a do-the-right-thing effort.

Yet as spring turns to summer, traditionally the period when presidential hopefuls consider whether they’re gaining any traction, this vision seems more fantasy than strategy.

In fact, if Trump does emerge as the GOP standard bearer next year we will look back on this week to grasp why, just like in 2016, he was able to take advantage of a divided opposition.

Is Self-Defense Becoming Illegal?

Well, that’s the question currently on trial in New York.

That’s the case of Jordan Neely.

Now, if you read most news outlets on the left, you’ll hear the 30-year-old black man was a street performer and Michael Jackson impersonator.

You’ll also hear that his friends said he was a sweet kid, and that he later suffered from mental disabilities and became homeless.

If you read news outlets on the right, you’ll hear that he was arrested 42 times between 2013 and 2021.

He pleaded guilty, and while facing 15 months in an alternative-to-incarceration program, he skipped his court date, and had a warrant out for his arrest since February.

Both sides of Neely’s story are true. He was a talented dancer who suffered from mental problems, and had become a criminal menace. The New York justice system repeatedly let him off the hook. Even outside of his arrests, people were posting online about personal experiences of being threatened or attacked by Neely.

And then, on May 1, Neely was allegedly threatening passengers on a New York subway car until a former U.S. Marine intervened; he restrained Neely with a chokehold while two other men helped subdue him. After Neely lost consciousness, the men placed Neely in a recovery position, and yet, Neely died.

Nobody was initially charged. Video of the incident, which was limited to when Neely had already been restrained, was quickly picked up by political actors to play into the country’s race narratives…

…In the natural world, self-defense is written into the DNA of life. Even bugs have the means to defend themselves. Nearly every creature on earth has been given by God a means to defend itself, whether claws, or teeth, or stingers, or other means.

Humans create tools, like swords and guns, to defend ourselves. And this has held true throughout all human history. The right to self-defense is the right to life. And the right to guard life is one the main pillars of law.

Let’s Call Them What They Are: Communists

There are forces determined to destroy the American experiment (and they’re not white supremacists, Joe). The most dangerous are attacking from within. They’re using asymmetrical warfare to attack socially, economically, and ideologically to compromise our system of governance and bring about a new vision for America. Unfortunately, they use identifiers that hide their real intent. I’ve been struggling with what to call them.

In my writing, I’ve tried a lot of names for the “fundamentally change America” insurgents. Many don’t work because they are literally incorrect. I hate distortions of the English language. One can’t win the debate of ideas if the words of the debate don’t have static meanings. Other labels are just inadequate in describing the threat.

A “liberal” is someone who stands for liberty. That is literally the opposite of what our “liberals” stand for. They use cancelation and censorship to quiet disagreements. They distort the law to crush dissent. They use moral relativism to break our sense of right and wrong. They don’t deliver liberty. They deliver oppression and corruption.

“Progressive” doesn’t work much better. A progressive is supposed to be a person who values progress. But those operating under the progressive banner have

created conflict in the name of social justice,

destroyed our prosperity in pursuit of ecological justice, and

used wildly out-of-control spending to buy our way out of problems that actually require human development.

In the name of “progress,” they have delivered social strife, criminal chaos, and economic collapse. They haven’t delivered progress — only regression…

,,, Let’s recognize our domestic enemies for what they are. They aren’t in favor of liberty or progress. They have no morality guiding their actions. They aren’t promoting self-governance. They’re trying to ease us into a communal existence of “one for all” and “all for none,” where individuals serve the needs of the state — and are otherwise expendable. They’re commies.

The United States Has Been Destroyed By Its Ruling Elites

Against the backdrop of the United States’ recognition of the investigation against Donald Trump as politically motivated, structural and ideological controversies, and concerns that the American economy will enter a recession, the GEOFOR editorial board asked Paul Craig Roberts, Chairman of the Institute for Political Economy (USA), a PhD in Economics and US Undersecretary of Treasury in the Reagan administration, to share his views on America’s future.

Dr. Paul Craig Roberts: The Special Counsel’s vindication of Donald Trump and denunciation of the FBI for conducting a politically motivated investigation devoid of any evidence should collapse the equally fraudulent Biden regime investigation of Trump on fake documents charges and the New York state prosecution of Trump on alleged expense misreporting charges. It has been clear for a long time that the list of fake charges against Trump, supported by the media, are propaganda to prevent Trump again running for President and to teach all future potential presidential candidates that they will be destroyed if they attempt to represent the people instead of the unelected ruling oligarchy.

However, the Democrat Party and the presstitutes that service them have no respect whatsoever for truth. Facts simply do not matter to them. This is true also of American Universities, law associations, medical associations, the CIA, FBI, NSA, the State Department, the regulatory agencies such as NIH, CDC, FDA, the large corporations, and many establishment Republican members of the House and Senate who serve the economic interests that pay them, not truth. It is also the case with a high percentage of Democrat voters who have been conditioned by propaganda to hate Trump. To Democrats what matters is not facts, but getting Trump. Truth is not permitted to prevent the destruction of Trump.

Consequently, the US is moving toward a fatal split in the society from which recovery is impossible. Trump represents ordinary Americans who prefer peace to the neoconservatives’ wars, who want their jobs back that the greed-driven capitalist global corporations sent to China and Asia, who want their children properly educated instead of indoctrinated with sexual perversion, Satanism, and told that they are racists. In contrast, the Democrats are increasingly Woke–people who believe that truth is an oppressive tool of white supremacy, that Christian morality is tyrannical and discriminatory against pedophiles and other sexual perverts, and that, as “President” Biden himself has said, white people are the greatest threat to America.
