Newly declassified intelligence documents indicate that Hillary Clinton signed off on a strategy during the 2016 presidential election to tie then-candidate Donald Trump to Russian interference efforts, a move allegedly designed to divert attention from scrutiny over her private email server.
The details came to light as part of Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into intelligence community activities surrounding the 2016 election cycle. According to the documents, the initiative was intended to stir public perception by amplifying narratives suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin was backing Trump, and to equate this with direct interference in U.S. election systems.
A memo from the released files states, “Clinton approved a plan proposed by one of her foreign policy advisors, Julianne Smith, to ‘smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the pre-election process to benefit the Republican candidate.’”
The materials, which stem from Durham’s multi-year inquiry, were made public following a request from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). Declassification was carried out by Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and other intelligence officials, reports the New York Post.
Sen. Grassley criticized the response of federal agencies during the Obama administration, stating, “Based on the Durham annex, the Obama FBI failed to adequately review and investigate intelligence reports showing the Clinton campaign may have been ginning up the fake Trump-Russia narrative for Clinton’s political gain, which was ultimately done through the Steele Dossier and other means.”
DOJ Official Who Approved $2 Million Payout To Disgraced Russia Hoaxers Identified As Left-Wing Activist Brian Netter
The Department of Justice official who signed off on $2 million in taxpayer-funded payments to disgraced Russia collusion hoax participants left the Department of Justice to help lead the “legal resistance” to President Donald Trump and other duly-elected Republicans, new records reviewed exclusively by The Federalist reveal.
FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, sued the Department of Justice over the release of messages detailing their role in pushing the Clinton campaign’s Russia collusion hoax. They said the release of the messages that were written using government resources violated their privacy. The Biden administration rewarded the duo with lucrative payouts. Strozk received $1.2 million in taxpayer funds while Page received an $800,000 settlement.
“[W]e have identified Brian Netter, Deputy Assistant Attorney General as the individual that approved the settlement agreements,” a DOJ official told the Center to Advance Security in America, which had filed a Freedom of Information Act request in 2024, when the payouts were publicly announced. Netter was the deputy assistant attorney general for the Federal Programs Branch during the term of President Joe Biden.
Netter currently serves as the legal director at Democracy Forward, a Democrat Party-affiliated group launched in 2017 to fight President Trump with lawfare. The group brags that it took Trump to court more than 100 times in his first term in office. It has continued its use of the courts to win political battles into his second term in office. “Liberal Legal Group Positions Itself as a Top Trump Administration Foe,” touted The New York Times last November.

US President Donald Trump is “very disappointed” with Vladimir Putin and is giving his Russian counterpart just ten more days to agree to a ceasefire or face new economic measures, he announced on Tuesday. Earlier in July, Trump had set a fifty-day deadline for the Kremlin dictator. This new time frame is the latest indication that the US leader’s patience is now running out, and comes following Trump’s recent decision to arm Ukraine by selling American weapons to European allies.
The Trump administration’s recent moves represent a striking departure from the diplomatic efforts of the previous six months, which had seen the United States offer Russia concession after concession while pressuring Ukraine to accept an overtly Kremlin-friendly settlement. During US-led negotiations that began in February 2025, Trump repeatedly signaled that he was ready to accept most of the Kremlin’s demands. This included allowing Russia to maintain control over occupied regions of Ukraine, ruling out Ukrainian NATO membership, and easing sanctions pressure on Moscow.
Trump was so eager to appease Putin that at one point he even reportedly explored the possibility of granting official US recognition for the 2014 Russian seizure of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula. Meanwhile, White House officials further underlined the new administration’s accommodating stance by ceasing public criticism of Russia’s invasion and withdrawing from international efforts to hold the Putin regime accountable for war crimes committed in Ukraine.
A Ukraine without Ukrainians: Putin is erasing Europe’s largest nation
When Ukrainian schoolchildren in Russian-occupied regions of the country return to the classroom following the summer holidays, they will no longer be able to receive even minimal instruction in their country’s national language. This blanket ban on Ukrainian language education is the latest stage in a Kremlin campaign to extinguish all traces of Ukrainian identity as Vladimir Putin pursues an extreme form of eliminationist imperialism in the heart of twenty-first century Europe.
According to a draft directive published recently by the Russian Education Ministry, the study of Ukrainian is to be removed from the school curriculum throughout Russian-occupied Ukraine beginning in September 2025. The directive cites “changes in the geopolitical situation in the world” as justification for the decision.
In reality, the official ban on Ukrainian language studies is a formality confirming processes that have been well underway ever since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022, and for far longer in areas of Ukraine occupied by Moscow following the initial onset of Russian aggression in 2014. The removal of the Ukrainian language from Ukrainian classrooms has been accompanied by the introduction of a new Kremlin-friendly curriculum that glorifies the ongoing Russian invasion while denying Ukraine’s right to exist and demonizing Ukrainians as Nazis. Parents who resist risk losing custody of their children.
This campaign of classroom indoctrination is only one aspect of the Kremlin’s comprehensive Russification policies in occupied Ukraine. Since February 2022, the Russian authorities have conducted mass arrests of anyone deemed a potential threat to the occupation, with thousands of Ukrainian officials, activists, community leaders, veterans, and patriots disappearing into a vast network of prisons. A recent UN probe has classified these large-scale detentions as a crime against humanity.
The brilliant and silly Trump emails keeping MAGA engaged
Since 2024, I have received Trump campaign emails at least once or twice a day, emblazoned with provocative MAGA-red meat-headlines. A recent one read, “If Democrats seize power and take back the House, they’ll have one goal in mind: Impeach, Impeach, Impeach!”
Visually dominating every email is a logo, shaped like a bumper sticker, that screams “Trump-Vance Make America Great Again! 2025.” The sender address, “rnchq.com,” is the headquarters of the Republican National Committee.
These daily messages contribute to Team Trump’s very successful fundraising machine. In June, the RNC raised $16.2 million, “torching” the Democratic National Committee’s $8.6 million. These numbers signal record-breaking campaign spending for the 2026 midterm elections, already in full swing.
Although these bombastic-sounding emails clutter my inbox, I don’t unsubscribe. After the presidential election, I recognized that these messages were windows into Trump’s mind, for he is the master wizard of strategic political communication. Surely he doesn’t write them himself, but he must approve the general tone and content, or else they are at least modeled after his messages.

Sixty years ago, on July 30, 1965, in my home state of Missouri, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Social Security Amendments of 1965, creating the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The signing ceremony was a bipartisan event, attended by Missouri’s own, former President Harry S. Truman, who became the first Medicare beneficiary in American history. Since then, these programs have transformed health care for Americans, giving many access to modern treatments and quality care for the first time.
The signing of this bipartisan legislation was a historic moment that laid the foundation for the bipartisan support the Medicare and Medicaid programs have enjoyed in the decades since. However, America’s political parties have not always agreed on how to preserve and protect these programs for those who depend on them.
Today, more than 160 million Americans rely on Medicare and Medicaid. Still, for decades, Congress failed to protect them from the waste, fraud and abuse that increased costs and reduced access and quality. Instead, Washington traded long-term solvency for short-term political gain. Reckless reforms enacted under complete Democratic control of Washington in the name of “emergency relief” or “Bidenomics” prioritized illegal immigrants accessing the resources of these programs over American citizens. It put Medicare at further risk of insolvency and allowed Medicaid costs to balloon to unsustainable levels, adding trillions of dollars to our national debt.
