Seniors Brace for Tropical Storm ‘Obamacare’

Soon to be Hurricane ‘Obamacare’ when the perfect storm of cost, complexity and regulation hits the ground.

(Alexandria, Virginia) — Obamacare promises to wreak continued havoc on Americans’ healthcare with news that a doctor shortage is worsening and the program is far from ready to be implemented.  Reports from the Government Accounting Office (GAO) indicate the federal government is scrambling to have all the pieces in place for the planned October 1st launch of the  Obamacare exchanges, and the doctor shortage that President Obama promised to fix four years ago is worsening according to a report from AP.

When combined with surveys that consistently show approximately 40% of businesses are freezing hiring to brace themselves for the unknown costs of Obamacare, and it’s clear that a perfect storm cost, complexity and regulation is going to make the healthcare overhaul hazardous to Americans’ health, as well as their jobs and livelihood.  This updated prognosis for disaster brought a response from 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with more than 7.2 million senior activists, and  the acknowledged alternative to the liberal AARP:

“Once again we see clear evidence that far from making things better as President Obama has repeatedly promised, his healthcare law is making things significantly worse for seniors and working Americans, not to mention those who want to stay working.  The storm clouds are gathering, and the outlook for all of us is not good.

“New reports show that in addition to Obamacare being a disastrous law, it won’t even meet its own deadline to be properly implemented, which will mean chaos throughout the entire medical profession.  Doctors are disappearing faster than hotel towels, and costs are higher than aerialist Nik Wallenda at his day job.

“The question arises how much more will Americans continue to suffer under this crushing new law, and when will Democrats wake up from the fantasy land where they continue to stand by an overhaul that has already failed?  Sadly seniors and their families  may find out the answers to these questions when the damage has already been done.”
