Seniors Endorse Sensible ‘Bill Of Rights’

Statement By 60 Plus Association President Jim Martin

I wholeheartedly applaud the Republican National Committee’s Seniors’ Health Care Bill of Rights, which represents a sensible blueprint to reforming and improving our nation’s health care without gutting Medicare or creating an entirely new government entitlement on the backs of our nation’s seniors.

Unlike the plan being pushed by President Obama and the AARP that deflates Medicare by more than $500 billion, the RNC plan protects Medicare for the millions of seniors who count on the care it provides after having spent most of their working life paying into the system.

I encourage everyone who cares about our seniors and cares about the future of our country to have a look at the Seniors’ Health Care Bill of Rights. It’s proof that some in Washington “get it,” and that we can make sensible changes to improve health care without rationing, without end of life counseling from a government bureaucrat, and without making seniors second-class citizens in our health care system.

First do no harm is wise counseling by RNC Chairman Michael Steele. Granted, health care reform is everybody’s goal but we should not take a wrecking ball to a proven system that serves so many so well.
