Obama Budget Unites Congress, Bi-partisan Vote Defeats it 414-0

(Alexandria, Virginia) — The U.S. House of Representatives cast several budget votes late yesterday, including the budget blueprint created by President Obama, who touted the plan during January’s State of the Union Address as “fair” and reflecting “tough choices.” This comes after last year’s U.S. Senate vote on President Obama’s budget, which went down to defeat 97-0.

“The fact that not one single Democrat in the entire Congress is willing to affix their name to their party leader’s budget says more than all of their huffing and puffing on TV and in the well of the House chamber.  Actions speak louder than words, and when every single Democrat in the House votes ‘Nay’ on his budget, that should tell President Obama everything he needs to know about the popularity of his budget priorities, ” said Jim Martin, Chairman of the 60 Plus Association, the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.1 million supporters nationwide.

“President Obama is a world-class spender, plain and simple. To this date, his signature accomplishment is being the only President to have created four straight years of trillion dollar deficits, and giving our nation a debt that exceeds the size of our entire economy.  His agenda begins and ends with spending ‘OPM’ – other peoples’ money, and the American people have had enough. Even Democrats are smart enough to realize that a vote for the President’s budget is akin to a vote to end their political career; they ran away from it faster than a skunk in a camping tent.

“The clock has struck way past midnight on getting our fiscal house in order, which is why we now see growing support for the budget presented by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) that leads us to a balanced budget in five years. With 261 current Members of Congress having voted for a Balanced Budget Amendment, it is time we stop burdening future generations with an immoral debt they’ll be forced to pay for their entire lives.”
