Obama Medicare Ad Neglects to Mention $716 Billion Cut, Failure to Act

Jim Martin, “Obama denies cuts?  Nancy Pelosi herself crowed about half a trillion dollar cut to Medicare.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – The Obama campaign has a new TV ad out today to help bolster their falling numbers on the issue of Medicare, playing defense to the fact that the President cut over $700 billion from the program to help pay for his new Obamacare entitlement.

The Obama campaign has attacked the Romney/Ryan ticket as ‘extreme’ on the issue of Medicare, bringing a swift response from 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million supporters.

“Once again the Obama campaign is dissembling on the issue of Medicare,” said Martin.  “They can run all the ads they want, but it won’t change the fact that in the 2012 race for the White House, there is only ONE candidate who has actually made real and extreme cuts that hurt seniors, and that candidate is Barack Obama.  His attack ads are nothing more than a smoke screen to try to make seniors forget that fact.  Calling these extreme cuts an ‘achievement’ is a red flag waved in the face of the elderly.

“Seniors remember that President Obama, both while President and as a candidate, promised to save Medicare.  That he asked for seniors’ vote and support because he would do the right thing and finally put the program on a path to solvency.  But sadly, Obama did the wrong thing, cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare to create the massive new entitlement that bears his name.  This is a betrayal, and seniors won’t be fooled again.

“The Romney/Ryan team is the only ticket for President that has a plan to SAVE Medicare, which now is scheduled to go bankrupt by 2024, if not sooner. While the Obama campaign has a record of failure and betrayal on the issue of Medicare, Romney/Ryan offer a real plan, and a real promise that not only protects today’s seniors, but  preserves Medicare for their children and grandchildren.”
