President Trump’s First 100 Days: “Promises Made, Promises Kept”

Alexandria, Virginia (April 21, 2017) – 60 Plus Association Chairman and Founder James Martin today called President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office, “historic,” and noted a lengthy list of early achievements that have had a direct and positive impact on the lives of America’s seniors.

“President Trump has shattered Washington’s political mold during his first 100 days in office by keeping his promises,” said Martin. “His promises made-promises kept approach to government has brought a refreshing sense of purpose and confidence to the presidency.”

Martin singled out President Trump’s appointment of Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency, saying the position holds enormous sway over seniors on fixed incomes. “Seniors who worry about how to pay for skyrocketing electrical costs on a fixed income can breath easier thanks to President Trump and Scott Pruitt,” said Martin. “Older Americans can have confidence in his ability to contain energy costs with his safe, smart approach to environmental policy.”

In terms of President Trump’s policies that have improved the lives of seniors, Martin took note of a number of significant actions during the president’s first 100 days in office:

  • The confirmation of Neil Gorsuch as associate justice to the US Supreme Court
  • The confirmation of Scott Pruitt to lead the Environmental Protection Agency
  • Regulatory reform resulting in $60 billion in taxpayer savings so far
  • Requiring the abolition of burdensome regulations before enacting new regulations
  • Cutting red tape by requiring federal agencies to find and eliminate wasteful regulations
  • Reining-in Big Government through hiring freezes for non-critical federal jobs
  • Reinvigorating the coal industry by rolling back wasteful regulations
  • Approval of work on the Keystone XL pipeline
  • Improving enforcement of immigration laws
  • Extending the Veterans Choice Act

“Donald Trump is on track to compile an historic record of achievement during his first 100 days that is benefiting all American seniors,” said Martin. “There’s a genuine air of excitement looking forward to what the president will tackle in the weeks and months ahead.”
