Senate to Take Up Repeal of Obamacare Medical Device Tax

Seniors Leader Urges “Swift Passage” Following Bipartisan House Repeal Effort

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (July 26, 2018) – 60 Plus Association Founder and Chairman James Martin Thursday issued the following statement in support of efforts to repeal the Obamacare tax on medical devices:

“The Senate has a tremendous opportunity to bring back innovation by following the lead of the House and voting to repeal the Obamacare tax on medical devices.

“The time for action is now. The Senate needs to show the courage demonstrated in the House by voting to give the medical industry the certainty it needs to continue making important advances in the medical devices that so many seniors rely upon for their heath care and a higher quality of life.

“The bipartisan vote in the House shows that scores of Democrats are now seeing what a bad idea this Obamacare tax is. It stifles medical innovation, increases costs and risks the high quality health care seniors demand. The Senate should now move for swift passage of this bill to finally repeal this terrible tax.

“I also want to offer special appreciation to AdvaMed Chief Executive Officer Scott Whitaker for his years of hard work on this issue; and Minnesota Congressman Erik Paulsen and his colleagues who signed on to his important initiative and helped shepherd it through the House.”
