Jim Martin: “Arbitrary limits on political speech that give the ruling class an upper hand to muzzle the voice of the people have no place in our nation.”
(Alexandria, Virginia) – The 60 Plus Association, the nation’s largest conservative senior citizens organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters, and the acknowledged alternative to the liberal AARP, cheered today’s Supreme Court 5-4 Ruling in the McCutcheon vs. Federal Elections Commission case ending the arbitrary limits on aggregate campaign contributions. 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin issued the following statement:
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a victory for the very essence of what this nation was founded upon, free speech that ensures we have a government beholden to the consent of the governed. The rights of American citizens to participate in the political process without arbitrary limits on the number of causes or candidates they choose to assist is essential to a healthy, open and vibrant political system.
“We sincerely hope that the Supreme Court continues to fully recognize the rights of Americans to engage in our Democracy without institutional borders or obstacles in future cases. Today was a very good day for Democracy.”
