Walberg Receives Legislator of the Month Award

Congratulations on Passage of the Fraud and Scam Reduction Act

Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI-7) has earned a Legislator of the Month Award from the 60 Plus Association, the American Association of Senior Citizens.

At a ceremony on Capitol Hill where Rep. Walberg received the award, 60 Plus President Saul Anuzis said, “On behalf of more than five million senior citizen supporters we applaud Tim Walberg for co-sponsoring and passage of H.R. 1215, the Fraud and Scam Reduction Act.”

60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin added, “We are grateful that this bipartisan legislation will put into place an outside advisory group, within the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to prevent fraud from targeting seniors and to direct the Commission to include additional information in an annual report to Congress.

Anuzis added, “Seniors who have worked and saved their entire lives are far too often preyed upon by scammers. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, it was a feeding frenzy for swindlers to take advantage of our senior population. The passage of this legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives is a great start but we must keep the momentum building until this bill actually gets signed into law,” concluded Anuzis.

“The award is presented to Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate who are a proven leader on senior citizen issues, and we are pleased to present this award to Congressman Walberg who is someone our senior community can definitely count on,” Martin concluded.
