Over-Due Drilling In Anwr

Letter To The Editor In The Washington Times, April 2, 2003 By James L. Martin “With reference to your March 30th article “Bush to renew push for Alaskan oil in House”, let me say I believe one of the more critical tasks before the 108th Congress will be crafting acceptable legislation to allow for oil drilling in Alaska’s National Wildlife Refuge.

Statement Of Roger Zion, Honorary Chairman, 60 Plus Association, To Senate Energy And Natural Resources Committee, U.S. Senate

“In 1973, I served as the Chairman of the House Republican Task Force on Energy and Resources. I gave a speech on the House floor in which I said: “If we don’t make maximum used of domestic energy sources, we will be held up by the Arabs and our National Defense will be threatened.” At that time we were importing 35% of our oil. Now it’s over 60%.”

Statement Of The 60 Plus Association On Yucca Mountain And Nuclear Waste Fund

The 60 Plus Association urges Congress to move forward and approve the safe storage of nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain.

Synfuels

Roger Zion states, “About 20 years ago President Ronald Reagan asked me to serve as his Chairman of the Synfuels Corporation in Washington in the wake of a close to $100 billion appropriation by the Democratic Congress to build a massive synfuels effort in view of the quadrupling of oil prices, the oil embargo– the lines at all the gas stations, etc.”

Special Action Alert From The 60 Plus Association And CARE

Dear 60 Plus Association Advocate: Key members of the U.S. House and Senate are faced with an issue of critical importance to the Nation — passing national energy legislation. In order for America to ensure both national and economic security, affordable and reliable and supplies of energy must be available to businesses and individual consumers. Unless Congress acts now by adopting an effective national energy strategy, our economy, our jobs, and our way of life could be jeopardized.

National Security Issue

Bush Energy Policy Is Right For America Press Conference March 21, 2002 Statement by 60 Plus Association President Jim Martin: “My Friends in the Energy Stewardship Alliance and I are working hard to get a sane national energy bill passed by the Senate. We need a bill, similar to H.R. 4– which includes drilling in the tiny area of the huge Arctic refuge. Democrats and Republicans alike passed that bill in the House with a hefty margin because they knew it was the right thing to do.”

The Need To Act On Energy Security

James M. Inhofe says, “America’s chronic dependence on foreign oil is not only an economic concern, but an important national security issue as well. It not only affects citizens and businesses nationwide, but also has a direct impact on our ability to fight and win wars.”

Roger Zion To Speak At Senate Energy Press Conference

“To get right to the point, to be brutally blunt — it’s time the Senate leadership quit demagoguing and come to grips with the energy legislation they have bottled up. Our economy depends in no minor way to the passage of an energy plan,” says 60 Plus Chairman, Roger Zion.

Bush Energy Policy Is “Senior Friendly”

Having lived or worked on Capitol Hill during the terms of 10 Presidents, dating back to 1953 as a young Marine in President Dwight Eisenhower’s first year, I can honestly say that President George W. Bush has developed the first fully balanced energy plan I’ve seen in 48 years.
