Dear Commissioners --nnLast year, the legislature took important steps to limit the out of control cost to taxpayers of subsidizing Louisiana's solar industry. Although energy diversity is a good thing, the burden of promoting one industry weighed heavily on the state budget requiring higher taxes for everyone.nnThe solar industry is aggressive and relentless in pushing for more of our money, knowing that their business model doesn't work without relying on our tax dollars. Dollars that should be going towards healthcare, education and vital services.nnI strongly oppose any policies that would raise my utility prices!nnThis means no subsidies and a fair net metering program that does not allow the solar industry to drive energy prices up.nnThe solar industry must stand on their own two feet, allowing them to become more cost competitive and affordable. In the meantime seniors and vulnerable families shouldn't have to subsidize developing programs.nnI urge you to not support any policies that will drive up the energy costs of every Louisiana family and business. These include any policies that will create subsidies and mandates for high cost rooftop solar systems.
