“Promises Made, Promises Kept” One More Promise Kept: Exit Paris Accord – Coal Miners Across America Rejoice

Alexandria, Virginia (June 2, 2017) – 60 Plus Association Chairman and Founder James Martin, the son of a coal miner, was at the White House Rose Garden Ceremony and strongly applauded President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord.

“President Trump is keeping his promise to put American workers first,” said Martin. “His promises made-promises kept approach to government has brought a refreshing sense of purpose and confidence to the Presidency.

“The accord was negotiated poorly by the Obama Administration and frontloads the cost on the American people, particularly seniors, to the detriment of our economy and job growth. It has already decapitated our coal industry. As the son of a coal miner from Hazard, Kentucky I was so proud to be in the Rose Garden for this momentous occasion. When the President uttered a line heard around the world ‘I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburg, not Paris,’ and also said, ‘I happen to love coal miners,’ I almost shouted and coalminers love you too!

“The President’s action helps ensure energy security for American seniors many of whom live on fixed incomes and are unable to afford skyrocketing energy prices that are unfortunately the result of President Obama’s ill-conceived EPA policies that have crippled the coal industry.”
